Legal

Terms of service

Short, because the service is small. Last updated 16 September 2026.

Who you are contracting with

Galley Render is operated by Matt Mueller, a sole proprietor in Fernandina Beach, Florida, United States. Notices go to legal@galleyrender.com; a postal address is on every invoice and is provided on request.

The service

You send a template reference and a JSON payload; we render a PDF, PNG or JPG and return a signed URL to it. You keep every right you had in what you send us and in what comes back. We claim no ownership of your templates, your data or your output.

Your account

An API key identifies your account. Keep it secret; anything done with it is treated as done by you. Tell us at support@galleyrender.com if one leaks and we will revoke it.

The keyless trial is 50 renders per client. It is a real account with a placeholder email address, and it becomes yours when you verify an address.

What you may not render

  • Documents that impersonate a real company, government body or person — invoices, receipts, certificates, licences or identity documents presented as genuine when they are not.
  • Content that infringes someone else's copyright or trade marks.
  • Content that is illegal where you are or where we are, or that exists to defraud, harass or endanger somebody.
  • Anything that abuses the service itself: circumventing quotas, mining the asset fetcher for access to networks that are not yours, or automated attempts to find its limits.

We may throttle or suspend an account that does these things. For a free or trial account we may do it immediately. For a paying account we will write to you first unless the harm is ongoing. Report misuse to abuse@galleyrender.com; copyright notices go to legal@galleyrender.com.

Money

Prices are on the pricing page. Paid plans bill monthly or annually in advance; usage over an allowance bills monthly in arrears. Metered accounts carry a monthly spend cap, $50 by default, enforced before a render starts rather than at invoice time.

If you are unhappy with your first charge, tell us within 14 days and we will refund it. Write to billing@galleyrender.com; a person reads it and a person issues the refund — no automation here can move money. We do not offer refunds beyond that first charge, and we do not prorate a cancellation: cancel and the plan runs to the end of the period you paid for. Cancelling is done in the Stripe-hosted billing portal, by you, at any time.

What we store, and for how long

Summarised here; the privacy page has the full list, the sub-processors and how to have your data deleted.

  • Your templates. Kept until you delete them. Deleting is a soft delete: renders already made keep working.
  • Rendered files. Kept for 30 days on Free, Pay as you go and Starter, and 90 days on Growth and Scale, then deleted. Signed URLs expire in an hour; the file does not.
  • Render payloads. The JSON you send is stored with the render record for the same retention period, because it is what makes a render reproducible. Do not send us data you do not want stored — render from a payload that carries only what the document prints.
  • Request logs. Method, path, status, duration, request id and account id, for 30 days. Not payload contents.
  • Account records. Email address, plan, usage counts and invoices, kept while the account exists and for as long afterwards as tax law requires.

We do not sell personal data, we do not use your payloads or templates to train models, and we do not share them with anyone except the processors we need to run the service: Render (hosting), Cloudflare (storage, DNS and email), and Stripe (payments). Ask us to delete your account and we will, within 30 days.

Assets your templates fetch

A template may load images and fonts from public https URLs. Those fetches go out from our network, resolve to public addresses only, and are size- and time-limited. Whatever you point at, you are responsible for having the right to use.

Uptime and liability

The service is provided as it is. Only the Scale plan carries an uptime commitment; on every other plan we will work hard and promise nothing. To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before it, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss — including a document that did not render when you needed it. Render what matters early and check it.

Changes

We may change these terms. A material change is announced by email to account holders at least 30 days before it takes effect, and the date at the top of this page always says when it last moved. Continuing to use the service after that is acceptance.

Law

Florida law governs, and the courts of Nassau County, Florida have jurisdiction — without limiting any right you have under the consumer law where you live.
